I love this quote because it tells us how bad we are about listening to others: all we do is listen through the filters of our own contexts, which are all about us, and not the other person. I don't listen without trying to fix something for the person who is talking. I haven't yet learnt that I can fix zilch for another. There is much hubris in thinking I can.
